An exceptionally full bodied black tea with a deep golden color. This tea is bolder and slightly more astringent than our other Assams, but with less of the malty tones common to Assam teas. Its sweet, slightly astringent flavor goes wonderfully with milk. This is the exceptionally full-bodied type of tea chai is made from.
The district of Assam is in India's northeast area, low in the Himalayan foothills. Assam teas are often used in breakfast tea blends, giving them their distinctive strength. Each of our own black tea blends contains at least 30% of the finest Assam. Assams tend to be extra robust and rich, with a full-bodied, malty flavor and cloudy amber color.
